Turbo Monkey Tales is a group blog focusing on the craft, production, marketing and consumption of Children's Literature. We are illustrators, writers, animators and media mongrels. We are readers! We are published, unpublished and self-published; agented and searching, and 100% dedicated to our Kid Lit journey, no matter where we are on the path. Join our Tribe and grab a vine. The more the merrier!

Marilyn

Marilyn Hilton has published numerous short stories, poems, devotions, and articles. She also wrote The Christian Girl’s Guide to Your Mom (Legacy Press) for preteen girls, and the upcoming middle-grade novel, Found Things (Atheneum). Her writing has won several awards including most recently the Sue Alexander Award for 2011. Marilyn holds a MA degree in English/creative writing, which took her five years to finish, but she loved every minute of it. Her children's literature is represented by Josh Adams at Adams Literary. Her adult work is represented by Janet Grant at Books & Such Literary Agency. Of the professional organizations she belongs to, the membership card she cherishes the most is from the (planet) Pluto Fan Club, because Pluto will forever be a planet. Marilyn lives with her husband and three kids--and a feisty dachshund named Daphne. High on her list of favorite things is telling "stories that stick" to readers of all ages.

Some of my favorite writers and artists: Kate diCamillo, Wendy Mass, Louisa May Alcott, Lauren Myracle, Patricia MacLachlan, Beverly Cleary, Jennifer Holm, Cynthia Rylant, Emily Dickinson, Mary Cassatt, Ted Lewin, Georgia O'Keefe, John Singleton Copley, Andrew Wyeth, Jan Brett--and, of course, the Turbo Monkeys.

How I monkey around: Tap dancing and talking like Donald Duck (but not at the same time). And I can imitate a camel.
